Donor-Advised Funds

A Donor-Advised Fund (or "DAF") is an investment account established to support charitable organizations you care about. A growing number of AMS donors are using DAFs to help manage their charitable giving.

DAFs offer donors a number of advantages, including:

Tax benefits: DAFs may be funded with assets such as cash, stock, and other appreciated securities. You may receive an immediate tax deduction when you contribute to your DAF, even if you choose to make gifts at a later date.

Convenience and transparency: DAFs organize and coordinate giving, providing reports on supported charities and giving histories.

Legacy giving: DAFs can be a part of your charitable estate plan. Not only can DAFs designate charities to receive gifts as part of your estate plan, but also you can appoint a family member to continue your tradition of generosity to future generations.

As an IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) public charity, the American Mathematical Society (EIN 05-0264797) qualifies as a recipient for gifts from Donor-Advised Funds. Please contact the AMS Development Office with any questions. Thank you!
